FAQ

Q: Which registry keys does 7+ Taskbar Tweaker modify? I don’t need extra processes in my system.
A: The only registry keys the tweaker modifies are its own settings. There are no registry keys for the options it provides. The tweaker does that by injecting a DLL to explorer, hooking/subclassing/some other methods of the dark side.
As for extra processes, the tweaker is a native program, and is very lightweight. It shouldn’t slow down your system, and uses an extremely small amount of memory. Also, you can hide the tray icon if you want.

In case you want to remove the tweaker’s settings from the registry, look for them here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\7 Taskbar Tweaker
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run (“7 Taskbar Tweaker” value)

P.S. if you’re a programmer, you might want to take a look at the 7+ Taskbar Tweaking Library.

Q: My antivirus complains about 7+ Taskbar Tweaker.
A: It’s a false positive. I guarantee that the tweaker binaries (and any other files on this site, unless specifically noted) are 100% clean.
Also remember that the tweaker injects into explorer and modifies its memory, which is indeed suspicious.

Q: Can I Group/Combine/Label only some of the items on the taskbar?
A: Yes, use Taskbar Inspector.

Q: May I use 7+ Taskbar Tweaker in a commercial environment?
A: Yes, feel free to use it wherever you want.

Q: Where is the portable version?
A: When installing the tweaker, choose the Portable type of install, as shown on the image below.
The portable version will be extracted to the selected folder.

Selecting the portable installation type

Note: If the tweaker is already installed on your computer, the option won’t be visible. You can launch the setup with the /portable command line switch to force a portable installation.

Q: I want to report a bug/suggest a feature! What is the best way to do it?
A: Post it on the UserEcho page.

Q: I want to translate 7+ Taskbar Tweaker to my language.
A: The archive below contains the files needed to be translated.
Please read readme.txt before proceeding.

I have sometimes wrong order of icons after reboot. I make “log off – log on” to become right order. Maybe problem is in the tweaker?

When will 7+ taskbar tweaker be free for windows 10 tech preview?

This is a beautiful and very useful application. Helps me a lot to organize my work.
    Big thanks, RaMMicHael!

I’m trying to figure out a visual issue with the tray bar on Windows 8.1 x64.

Randomly (never caught that moment) or after clicking some tray icon, some *other* tray icon takes a “clicked” state and doesn’t return to normal until I click it individually.

I have around 15 tray icons, they all set to “always show”. With 7tt I’m using an option for accessing volume tool with mouse scroll from tray bar.

I think this issue started after I upgraded to 7tt+ v4.5.5. But not 100% sure – I’ll try to work without 7tt (would be quite uncomfortable) and see if it’s still there.

Up until now I was having this issue at least 2-3 times every day.

    RaMMicHaeL,

Thank you so much for the great software!

I just had a question, probably silly, but I thought I would ask since I haven’t messed around with the Taskbar Inspector much.

Are settings made through the Taskbar Inspector saved between sessions at all i.e. remembered when reopening windows/software or even when restarting Windows?

    Much appreciated 🙂

  7. Retired Engineer says:

In W7 I cannot get drag_towards_desktop options to work with multiple Word-2007 instances. After clicking Apply for numeric options 1-6, I get the same behavior (or lack thereof) as W7 displays whith IE10 Tabs or multiple IE10 instance windows.

Two questions at this point — did you design these selections to work with Mouse Click & Drag OFF *and* Mouse Hover OFF? I use a trackball with these options turned ON all the time (medical hand/wrist problems), so some additional explication would be helpful to me.

Also … if you do decide to add Mouse Hover and Click & Drag features, I would be happy to Beta test them for you, and purchase same as a shareware upgrade.

    • I’m not sure I understand your problem and/or question.
The drag_towards_desktop advanced option of value 2, 3, 4 doesn’t work with combined items, if that’s what you’re asking.
Also, the option is not related to mouse hovering. It just replaces the jump list with a different action, such as minimizing the window or showing thumbnail preview.

  8. Victor says:

Hello! I recently started getting an error when 7+Taskbar Tweaker loads (at Windows startup) saying “failed to load library 206”. I close the notification icon and after waiting for the system to finish booting I’ll start 7+TT again and usually it will start without the error. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this error and if there is a fix yet? Thanks!

Wow I really like your tool!
    Hi there!
Is there a way to enable the scroll wheel to literally scroll through the pages of the task-bar, if you have more programs open then you have space to display them? Or an other equivalent to clicking the up/down buttons of that scroll thing?
If you have no such function, it would be amazing to see it in some future version.

    Thanks!

  12. Zai says:

Hi, I have a small request if you have the time to do so, I’ve noticed that when using the google chrome hangouts app, no matter how much I try I can’t combine them, unless I set the Taskbar buttons properties on the “Taskbar and Navigation Properties” to (Always combine, hide labels) and individually change every single app to show labels again with your great app. I always set it to (combine when taskbar is full). Thanks for such a great application!

    • Hi,

7+ Taskbar Tweaker doesn’t affect combining options when the “Combine when taskbar is full” setting is on. In this case, explorer decides whether to combine or not, depending on the available space on the taskbar.
You might want to try using the “Never combine” option, which might fit your needs better than “Always combine, hide labels”.

  13. Fabian says:

    Hi,

Can you create a package for https://chocolatey.org ?
Or am i allowed to package 7+ Taskbar Tweaker into a Chocolatey package?

  14. Retired Engineer says:

In the Main Menu, I have “Middle click on empty space” set to Ctl+Alt+Tab. However, when I use it, what I get is the same behavior as Windows’ popular Alt+Tab function.

How is Ctl+Alt+Tab supposed to function, and how do I configure its proper behavior?

  15. Doomdodgers says:

Great, solved my annoying problem instantly. (OCD)

  16. Wig says:

I’d like the thumbnails for a particular application to automatically sort by name. Currently the only way I can see to do this is manually via the “Taskbar Inspector” option. Every time a new thumbnail is created I have to re-sort which is a bit of pain. Is auto sorting all thumbnails or by application a feature you would consider adding?

  17. Retired Engineer says:

Sorry, I just don’t get the gist of your reply. Are you saying that if Alt+Tab mode does not work, then use Ctl+Alt+Tab to implement it’s functionality?

  18. Retired Engineer says:

    Aha!

Now I really do understand the differences. I like your Ctl+Alt+Tab hotkey better than Alt+Tab.

Many thanks for your tutoring on this issue. A modest contribution for your work will be in the mail shortly.

  20. Craig Hogan says:

    Hi,

I just want the taskbar to autohide and then appear on top of any open windows. Right now, if a window is maximized, when I move the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen to open the taskbar, the taskbar won’t appear on top of a maximized program so I have to reduce the window to see the taskbar and open a window. Thanks.

    Craig

    • Hi Craig,

That’s how it should work by default. Is this behavior related to 7+ Taskbar Tweaker, or does it work like this even when the tweaker is not running? Also, is the issue specific to some concrete window, or is it like this for every window/application?

      • Craig Hogan says:

        Hi,

The taskbar won’t appear because it’s behind a window. It happens when 7+ Taskbar Tweaker isn’t running or when it’s running. I just tried it, and it’s showing up OK on top of the windows for all programs. It just started that behavior a few days ago. Before that, the taskbar always showed up on top of any windows. But for days it wouldn’t show up over Windows Live at least. Now today it’s working OK. I don’t know what to make of it.

        Craig

  21. Bigolbig says:

This is a great little app!

Is there a way to extend/duplicate the taskbar to multiple displays?

    Thanks

    • What Windows version are you using? In Windows 8 and later, multiple taskbars are supported by the system, but in Windows 7, the only way is to use a third party app (and then 7+ Taskbar Tweaker won’t work with the secondary taskbar).

  22. Bigolbig says:

    Should’ve mentioned I’m on W7. Oh well.
    Thanks

  23. chris says:

    Hi,
Cool tool! I have a feature request, even it is not “directly” the taskbar.
Unfortunately the tweaker.userecho.com website does not work for me, so I place it here:
Office 2007 and 2010 has a absolutly different window frame, so the place where the windows caption is placed, is colored using skins, the window is round instead of a 90 degree corner etc.
Would be cool, if 7+ Tweaker could also hook this window to the “classic” style 🙂

    regards
    Chris

  24. Ayu says:

Thank you !!! I like this app, but I wish that you can add some fuction to the emptyspace(Mouse Button Control) such as anology Press the shortcut key I can define (em…sorry for my bad english –!) . I just want to run firefox or something else when I click on the empty space of the task list…Anyway ,thank you for this app.

  25. VegasRick says:

Hey…..I downloaded and installed the Tweaker. Good software…..BUT, I was looking for a way to fix what might be a bug regarding keeping the taskbar “always on top”. After installing the new Skype and RealPlayer Cloud, one of those two installations resulted in my taskbar behaving strangely. I prefer keeping the taskbar on top, but now instead of seeing thumbnails of open windows, I only see the tooltip text, and have to click on the taskbar itself to return focus. Really inconvenient. Was wondering if there’s a way to return my taskbar to its previous state with Taskbar Tweaker?

    • I’m not sure I understand what the issue is. Also, did you find out what causes it? Skype? RealPlayer Cloud? The tweaker?

A screenshot that illustrates your issue might help.

      • VegasRick says:

Well, after much stressing over this issue, I uninstalled RealPlayer Cloud and the taskbar seems to be back to how I liked it. Apparently, RealPlayer Cloud installs this “button” that auto-hides just like the taskbar would (if you have auto-hide selected) which stays on the top of the screen and makes it easier (supposedly) to download videos from YouTube. But it must have take priority over my taskbar, and also the Google Desktop sidebar, because neither of those behaved properly until I uninstalled RealPlayer Cloud. Too bad….I liked using RealPlayer, but it looks like they have gone full-out with this stupid “Cloud” version that includes web-based file storage/sharing. Thanks for the support anyway! But I was going to point out that the Tweaker software still does not have an “always on top” setting for the taskbar. That may have solved my issue so that I could be using RealPlayer and still have my taskbar do what I want it to do.

        • But I was going to point out that the Tweaker software still does not have an “always on top” setting for the taskbar.

The taskbar should be always on top by default, and the tweaker has an option to make it non-always on top.

Perhaps that button of RealPlayer is always on top too, and thus it conflicts with the taskbar. I think you’d best report it to the RealPlayer guys.

          • VegasRick says:

I think that’s exactly what it is. I did report it on the RealPlayer Cloud web site. I don’t know why they can’t leave a good thing alone. RealPlayer, RealDownloader & RealConverter worked quite well. Now they want to get in the game of having online file storage & sharing with this “cloud” version of the program and obviously did not test their new software for bugs or issues like this one. Looks like I won’t be using Real Anything until they fix this.

  26. smart7tt says:

    Hi RaMMicHaeL,
I absolutely love your program! I really can’t productively work on any PC without it. So, thanks for your work 🙂

Unfortunately, with the last update (or one before that), I have one issue:
    – Gouped taskbar items mix their internal orded while I switch virtual desktops.

I use Dexpot v.1.6.14 b2439 as my virtual desktop manager, and it hasn’t been updated or modified in any way before the issue appeared.
    What happens is as follows:

  27. John Smith says:

In Windows 8.1, I’m not getting the classic right click menu. It works on Windows 7 though.

    http://postimg.org/image/n1fd6htlb/

    • The classic right click menu is actually a feature of Windows. You can activate it by holding shift while right-clicking. The tweaker merely makes explorer think that you actually hold the shift button.

Please close the tweaker, and try right clicking a button with the shift key pressed. Does it work? If not, the tweaker is not the issue.

      • John Smith says:

OK, I will try to clarify myself. In Windows 7, before I installed 7+ Taskbar Tweaker, without pressing Shift key, I’d get the new style menu but after I installed 7+ Taskbar Tweaker, I started to get the classic menu without having to press Shift key. Later, I installed 7+ Taskbar Tweaker on Windows 8 but it didn’t change the menu like it did for Windows 7. I quit 7+ Taskbar Tweaker and restarted my PC and made sure 7+ Taskbar Tweaker doesn’t run on start up. Then, when I press Shift, I get the classic menu so I believe it is a feature of Windows by itself but your program is simulating the Shift key. It would be great however, if 7+ Taskbar Tweaker could simulate this Shift for Windows 8 just like it does on Windows 7. My suggestion is that if possible, you just make it an option in the program that we can toggle or just update the code so it works for Windows 8 as well.

        • Thank you for the clarification.
I’m not sure what could cause it. In fact, you’re the first one to report this kind of issue. The option should work on Windows 8, as well as any other system from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 update 1.
Perhaps you have a conflicting app installed on your PC. Can you think of any additional app that modifies the taskbar, such as an alternative start menu program?

          • John Smith says:

Hey there. I found the problem. Actually my settings in 7+TT was wrong. For the first option, I had “Jump list (default)” selected instead of “Standard window menu.” It’s a great program you have made by the way. It really helps me be more productive.

  28. Chris says:

    Hi
Thanks for your efforts in making Windows usable! I came to this page hoping to be able to simulate “uncheck Keep Taskbar on Top” so that it remains hidden behind a full screen app until bidden by the Win button or Ctrl+Esc. I’ve looked and looked but can’t see how I achieve that? I’m using Win 8.1.
    Thanks

    • Hi,
You can use the “disable_topmost” advanced option. Please refer to the help file for more details.

      • Chris says:

Aha, that’s well hidden! I’ve set that to “2” to hide the taskbar under maximised apps and I notice that I have to press Ctrl+Esc or Win three times to get the taskbar/Classic Shell menu to resurface, instead of just the once. Just thought I’d mention it. Win+T works without fail though so that’s a workaround for now.
Thanks again for a great tool.

        • Perhaps that’s something that should be improved in Classic Shell. You might want to ask the Classic Shell developers. I have Windows 8.1 with a different Start Menu app, and seems like I don’t have this issue.

          • André Taranto says:

I’ve set the “disable_topmost” to “2”. Now, when I’m using a maximized app, the taskbar won’t show up. Ok. Great.

But if I press the Window key, the taskbar appears (as expected) but it remains on top again. The workaround is to restore the maximized app, and then re-maximize it again.

Is there a way to fix it?

            Thanks.

  29. Shocker says:

OH MY GOD this tool has all the options I’ve always wanted: reorder grouped items, remove that annoying taskbar items tooltip when not using thumbnails, hide the start button, control volume directly with the scroll, hide labels for specific programs… GENIUS! Thank you very much !

  30. oreopa says:

I am using Win 7. One thing I really miss is the ability to show the desktop when dragging and hovering a file over the empty taskbar. Any chance to add that please if its not a big hassle? (I know I can do the same over the show desktop notification button, but I want to hide that 😉 )

  31. Mat says:

    1 bug report & 1 request

    I’m on win7x64 latest updates

    Bug
My taskbar snaps to left side of my screen. Every time I size it down to one column of icons it goes back to tick, two columned size after reebot or re-login (there is no moment after starting windows when it changes, windows starts with tick taskbar).

    Request
When I check “squeeze pinned icons” option it doesn’t do that vertically, which for me who uses taskbar on left side of screen in vertical position might be useful two (I loved this option when my taskbar was on it’s original place) 🙂

    Cheers

    • My taskbar snaps to left side of my screen. Every time I size it down to one column of icons it goes back to tick, two columned size after reebot or re-login (there is no moment after starting windows when it changes, windows starts with tick taskbar).

What do you mean by a “two columned size”? Could you provide a screenshot? Does it also happen when the tweaker is not running?

When I check “squeeze pinned icons” option it doesn’t do that vertically, which for me who uses taskbar on left side of screen in vertical position might be useful two (I loved this option when my taskbar was on it’s original place) 🙂

Adding support for the vertical taskbar (as well as adding more control to the gap of the horizontal taskbar) requires a different approach, which is more complicated. I might look at it one day, but currently it’s not planned.

      • Mat says:

Here is a link to screen shoot

        http://postimg.org/image/94v22azkn/

On the left side is wide taskbar and on the right is narrow one. Every time I change it’s size to narrow it goes back to wide, with each reboot.

Aaa it’s a shame vertical support is not coming our way any time soon :/

        • I assume that you’re using the no_width_limit advanced option. If 7+ Taskbar Tweaker is set to run at startup, it should restore the taskbar width to the narrow configuration upon startup.
Could you post your taskbar options and taskbar properties? I’ll try to reproduce the issue.
Also, are you using other customization software, such as an alternative start menu?

          • Mat says:

            http://s28.postimg.org/vybyugmjw/003.jpg

No, I don’t use any other software to modify my taskbar. 7+ tt has 99% of what I need 🙂

As for advanced option You mentioned: I have no idea if I’m using it or not. How can I check it?

I don’t really know how ms programming works on taskbar mechanics. One thing coming to my mind is that I enabled 7+ tt options and added it to startup when my taskbar was wide, meaby 7+ “hangs” on width set before it was lunched first time or linked to registry? It’s just my simple logic, but I try to remove 7+ tt from my laptop entirely and see if it work as I wont it to if I enable it on narrow taskbar.

            • Mat says:

Some additional info: I removed 7+ tt from computer entirely, including all registry stuff I found with regEdit. Guess what? 😉 Now I can’t make taskbar narrow in vertical mode! Haha, it turns out You can’t do it by default. In vertical mode you will always be restricted to “wide” width as minimum width.

But it got me thinking and I wanted to check something. I downloaded newest version of 7+ tt and run it as portable application. Only option I checked and used was “hide the Start button”. And as I thought, now I can narrow taskbar down to one column, narrow size. It seems that by removing start button You can go down with width but windows it self will bring it back to default “minimum” width on startup.

My question is: can You rape windows so it would stop doing it?

            • OK, that makes things clearer. 7+ Taskbar Tweaker has a so-called advanced option to do exactly what you want. Right click on the tray icon, open advanced options, and set “no_width_limit” to 1. Click on help for more details.

At first I was sure that you’re using that option already, because you’ve said that you’re able to make the taskbar narrower. I didn’t think of the option to hide the start button, which allows that as well.

  32. Knorx Thieus says:

Dear developer(s?) of this nice tool, dear RaMMicHaeL,

First I’d like to let you know that I love this utility. It’s absolutely genial! 🙂

But I suppose I found a little bug and I would love if you could fix it: I use the option Decombine on mouse hover. Now, when I have some (multiple!) opened explorer windows (if this is important: The explorer item is also pinned to the taskbar.) and move the mouse across them (beginning at the left of the taskbar and ending at the right of it), the items of the explorer windows shortly change to the standard explorer logo and then get back their right items, e.g. the symbol of Pictures Folder or Music Folder.
If you need to, you can see all my settings here: http://goo.gl/xrBWrM
The problem does not occur when there is only one opened explorer window.

I very would love if you could fix it!

(If my English is not so good, I would like to apologize; I’m afraid English is not my native language 🙁 )

    Best regards,
    Knorx

  33. Grzegorz Łyp says:

Hi, I love 7+ Taskbar Tweaker to set advanced option no_width_limit. Unfortunatelly this option does not work in the multimonitor environment. It works on main monitor and does not on any secondary.
What do You think about fixing this ?

    • Hi,

I looked at it before, and it wasn’t trivial to add support for secondary monitors because the way of limiting the width is different for secondary taskbars. I might look at it again one day when I have some spare time.

    Hello,

I have been trying to get seconds on the 24hr clock and your software was the only thing i could find. The only thing it does not hold them when you shut down the software.

    Thanks

  41. Frank says:

Спасибо, я понял. А известнa ли тебе подобная программа для Windows 98 в прошедшем? Если нет, то тоже не срашно.

  42. Frank says:

Спасибо за весьма быстрый ответ. Буду искать с помощью Google. Для Windows XP тоже пригодится. Еще раз спасибо за помощь!

  43. Frank says:

Еще раз я. 😉 Нашел Taskbar Shuffle. По описанию, версия 2.5 работает с ОС Windows 95 до Windows 7. Можно организовать порядок символов в Taskbar. Это точно то, что я хотел. Спасибо тебе за указание.

I looked for your tool because I wanted to have the good old “always on top” check box for the task bar (or whatever is serving the same purpose). after looking into it in more detail (GUI, manual, this response area) i feel like i am unable to locate the control element that realizes that function for me.

can you please tell me where the control element in question is located and how it is labeled? (sorry for asking such maybe really silly things – it is just not evident for me at all where to pull the desired lever at present.)

    PS: quite nice tool indeed.

I’m not sure what you meant but maybe…
      Help File > Advanced Options > OptionEx > disable_topmost

      • Alex says:

my problem was that the extended options are not available from the main settings window via a button. as the other two options of the tray icon were realized as a button i assumed anything is realized as a button in the main settings window.

        proposals:
        * add a button for the extended options to the main settings window
        * add bottom right a button labeled “close window”

        • Alex says:

and as you are always call them registry settings (and provide a built-in list-based editor) you might also note in the help file for the curious the registry path of them. who ever wants to know it instantly, the settings are there:

          Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\7 Taskbar Tweaker\OptionsEx

Other registry settings are aside to this folder. Some people might be interested in that because they want to clone those settings to other user accounts on the same or on different machines.

thanks for your very helpful response. you made my day.

How can I reset actions I have taken for an application? To be more specific, I was trying to learn how to use the program, and for a set of notepad files that I have open, which the Task Inspector shows under something like {some registry key numbers}\notepad.exe, I chose options for Group, Combine, and Show Labels. Now they have a checkmark next to them because I have chosen something and I am now forced to continue using an option for each of those categories. I would like it to be how it was before I chose anything. I would like to reset those options to what they were prior to me doing anything. Is this possible?

Also, I don’t know if this is a Windows 8 thing or not, and I will be testing this out in a few days on a Windows 7 computer, but is it possible to have combined items appear as a list the way Windows XP does it?

I’m not sure what setting it is, but
when I right-click a program in the Taskbar
    I get the Context Menu:
    Restore, Move, Size, Minimize, Maximize
    Priority, Transparency, Close
    – – – – – –
    . . . except for Foxit Software’s,
    Foxit Phantom Business PDF
    in which case, nothing appears
    – – – – – –
If I exit 7+TT, and then right-click on Foxit Phantom,
I get the Jump List there, and on the other programs:
    Recent, program, Pin, Close
    – – – – – –
Any idea how I can get the Context Menu to show
    on Foxit Phantom? ty.

    • Seems like you’re using the “Standard window menu” option, and seems like your program, Foxit Phantom, doesn’t support it.
You can either disable this option, or ask the program authors to fix the issue.

      • sludge7051-x says:

Hi! Yes, that’s what it looks like.

Is it easy to support the “Standard window menu” option? You’d think it would be supported by default. I wonder why it isn’t.

Is there any info I could provide to them that would help? Thanks again.

        • Looks like it’s an issue specific to their program. The classic menu itself is not a feature of the tweaker, it’s built into Windows. You can use it without the tweaker too, by holding the shift key while right-clicking.

          Just ask the program authors.

    Hey,

i just downloaded latest alpha for Windows 10.
Unfortunately it says that it cannot load the librarys (103).

Is it because i use the newest build of Win 10 (9926), which is not in your compatibility list?

Ever since the new version 4.5.6 installed, I have been having issues with the Google Chrome icon in the task bar. Most of the time, it opens Chrome but immediately goes “grey”, i.e., it doesn’t keep Chrome live. If I click anywhere on Chrome again, everything works just fine. But sometimes, clicking on the Chrome icon works just fine – rare but it does happen. All of the other icons in the task bar work just fine – only Chrome has this issue. I presumed it was a Chrome issue, but they have been unable (unwilling?) to help. Any thoughts?

    Hi,
Where can I find more details about what changed in v4.5.6.7

    • Hi,

      You can ask me 😉

Before v4.5.6.7, when the “Drag within/between groups using right mouse button” option was turned on, there was a bonus feature which was being enabled: while holding the right mouse button over a taskbar button and scrolling the moues wheel, the target’s AppId label displaying setting was changed.

Turns out that this bonus feature doesn’t work so well with advanced mice (e.g. Razer Gaming Mice), which have enhanced scrolling sensitivity. So starting from v4.5.6.7, this bonus feature is a separate advanced option.

      • Stamimail says:

WOW, this is another feature I’ve missed. 🙁
It’s nice feature, but works different than what we had talked about.. 🙂
        1. This feature does: Always|Never, and I said it should be Temp (The chosen default behaviour of the app should be kept at next time I run the app).
        2. It should affect not only the Labels but Combine too. (both Temp)

I hope you will have time for it some day.
        Thank You

        • Well, this feature is very old. I think that it existed since the “Drag within/between groups using right mouse button” option was introduced, which is v2.0 (April 2011). Now, looking at the changelog, I can confirm my assumption 🙂

          1. This feature does: Always|Never, and I said it should be Temp (The chosen default behaviour of the app should be kept at next time I run the app).

You can achieve that by creating a temporary group. You can do that by dragging a taskbar button out of the taskbar with the right mouse button, or by changing the AppId of the button(s) using Taskbar Inspector.
